A friend invited me to Japan's most famous land mark - the
Fuji Mountain with the plan to proceed to Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park,
located at the base of the legendary mountain. What a wonderful day it was to
set foot next to the magnificent Mt. Fuji, so close by, a nature's beauty
alongside. I am mesmerized by the exquisiteness of it, quietly spreading the
softness of cool weather. It was as if the day stood still, like the FuJi San,
always there day and night. From a distance, the tip of Mt. Fuji was misted up
by white cloud so thick, making it look like a flat top. It's a combination of
blue, green and white. The feeling of peace, of loveliness and eternity settled
in my heart whenever I am in awe of how majestic mountains can be, wishing to
stay there forever. It took a while before the tip appeared, showing the
height, almost reaching the sky from where I stand. As everyone was eager to
check out the amusement park below, the time to admire the beauty of nature end
up so short and wish there's enough time to stay a little longer. If I can't
climb the Mt. Fuji today, why not enjoy the scene from a distance and have fun
with the rides?
One can purchase a ticket for admission only. You can then
roam around and wonder how the rides feel in your entire life. Will you be able
to challenge yourself to try any of them or will it be a wishful thinking
forever? Would I at least try a few of the rides or be the spectator of
thrills, my mind struggles as we approach the ticket section. We end up getting
a day's pass for 5200 yen, includes entrance fee and unlimited rides. We're
here, why not make the most of the day? The best part of it is to get a better
view of the majestic Mt. Fuji riding the Fujiyama, as it goes up, capture the
breathtaking Mt. Fuji as most people who had been here claimed. I'd like to
experience it myself and be able to say "It's amazing"!
There are numerous rides to choose from “Guinness-level”
attractions, including Eejanaika - boasted as the highest total number of
roller coaster spins in the world. The park strives to be at the forefront of
theme park entertainment, and is constantly opening new rides and attractions,
including the new Guinness World Record breaking roller coaster approximately
every five years.
You will enjoy the different rides of your life with
Fujiyama, Dodonpa, Pizzala, Red Tower, to name a few and the Super Scary
Labyrinth of Fear 4.0. Several times I have conquered my fears by riding the
Pizzala, the Red Tower and the very high Takabisha roller coaster so many times
that day. I love those rides. For the children, they offer Thomas Land for a
variety of rides fit for children and adults who fear the heights, very family
oriented indeed. Since we don't have any children with us that day, we opted
for those that make your heart skip a beat. We were all gearing for excitement
and thrill of a lifetime. Famous for its thrilling, record holding roller
coasters and elaborate, anime themed rides and attractions, Fujikyu, here we
come.
Fuji-Q Highland is perfect for children, youths, adults and
family, somewhat like Disneyland, the happiest place on earth, the Japanese way.
It is a fun place to be. It also has an ice-skating rink that opens during
winter and attracts many skaters. An amusement park indeed, fit for everyone -
thrill, fear and fun - wrapped in one.
At the entrance you'll passed by La Ville de Gaspar et Lisa -
a taste of France - Little French Village, a French cafe that offers other
services besides food and beverages.
With its four major roller coasters, we went crazy what to
ride first. Fujiyama, the park's centerpiece attraction, was opened in 1996, I
learned from a local who was standing in line before us. You know, this is a
good way to make friends too. It is considered the world's tallest and fastest
roller coaster and it continues to rank among the best coasters in the world.
Dodonpa is the parks' speediest coaster and the world record holder for fastest
acceleration. Take note, the world record holder for fastest. I cannot even
imagine what it feels like. I am starting to feel the tension. It opened in
2011 according to the Japanese student who was with us that time. Then, there's
Eejanaika, called the "4th dimension" roller coaster with seats
rotating within the car, a double twist, has the most inversions of any roller
coaster and was built 2006. Finally, Takabisha, built in 2011, is the steepest
roller coaster in the world.
The park also has several large scale entertainment
attractions, many of which are based on popular anime series. Gundam Crisis and
Evangelion World are immersive displays of their respective robot suit themed
anime and include life-sized models of the robots and characters. There are
also three maze attractions: the Ultimate Horror Labyrinth or Haunted Hotel
which is popular because the line was long, one of the world's major and scariest
haunted attractions; Ultimate Fort, a prison escape themed puzzle maze that
will make you feel like a real prisoner; and Kassen Sengoku Basara, a warring
states period themed attraction.
In addition to those major rides and attractions, the park also
offers a host of amusement park varieties accommodating families like tea cup,
frisbee, log flume, pirate ship and drop tower type rides. It also offers the
traditional rides such as a ferris wheel, carousel and sky swings for moderate
riders. Of course, seasonal attractions, such as ice skating rink are also open
at certain time. Restaurants, rest areas, souvenir shops and carnival games are
spread out around the park for convenience.
For the Children
A number of elaborate anime-themed attractions for kids such
as the Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro haunted house, Hamutaro rides that includes a kid
sized roller coaster, pirate ship, Kaiketsu Zorori Land, and the Loony Toons
themed Cartoon Lagoon. Another popular kid-themed area is Thomas Land, a train
themed zone which is based on the British Thomas the Tank Engine books and
television series. This area is aimed at young children, and features child
friendly rides and attractions including the Thomas and Percy Train Ride, the
Thomas Land 3D Theater, and a variety of small rides and other kid related
activities.
Just outside the park a few steps from its main entrance
stands the Highland Resort Hotel and Spa, an affiliated hotel that offers nice
views of Mount Fuji and easy access to Fuji-Q Highland and its surrounding
attractions. Hotel guests enjoy perks such as early entrance to the theme park
and free entry to the Fujiyama Museum and Fujiyama Onsen.
The Fujiyama Museum is an art museum displaying a wide
variety of paintings and other illustrations of Mount Fuji. The museum is
located on the Fuji-Q Highland park grounds and is free to enter for park
attendees that have unlimited ride tickets. Those who only wish to visit the
museum and not the amusement park can enter via the Highland Resort Hotel and
Spa outside of the park grounds.
Also nearby just outside the park is the Fujiyama Onsen, a
modern hot spring facility next to the Fuji-Q Highland Resort. The bath house
features nice, traditionally styled wooden baths and offers both indoor and
outdoor baths segregated by gender. Unfortunately, Fujiyama Onsen does not have
views of Mount Fuji from its baths, but the mountain can be seen from the
facility's restaurant.
Option 1 (recommended): 1 day free pass ticket, adults
¥5,200. This option gives entrance to the park and unlimited access to the
rides.
Option 2: Entrance ticket, adults ¥1,400 + cost of
individual rides and attractions. This is best if you are only there for a
couple of rides or just to watch your friends.
There's a different price on children, adults, seniors and students.
If you need a fast pass, there is extra fee for that, around 1000 yen, maybe? It's
not free according to a friend who went there before us. Be aware that at
times, you may have to wait in line for two hours for the popular rides and
during holidays or summer season where all the students are looking forward to
enjoy the summer before school starts again.
We had fun till it was dark.
--------To reach Fujikyu, we passed by Japan's most famous natural land mark - the Fuji Mountain, then we enjoyed the rides at Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park. Several times I have conquered my fears by riding the Pizzala, the Red Tower and the very high Takabisha roller coaster. I love those rides.
The majestic My. Fuji from a distance. Closer take of
Mt.Fuji
leaving the village quite late at night.
Its top was never completely visible during our visit due to
thick clouds. Then the clouds moved away as we get closer, exposing the tip of
this majestic mountain, famous for its height. Bare from thick clouds surrounding
earlier, Mt. Fuji stood grand.
The clouds concealing the mountain at the base from afar.
Entering Fujikyu parking lot.
Fujikyu is an amusement park not only meant for children but
daring young and adults. It is located at the foot od Mt. Fuji where one can
get a better viewof its majestic when one dares to ride those highly thrilling
roller coasters.
