So, you're a Disney fanatics? You love to go to Disney every chance you get, year after year. Great!
You have kids and they love Disney too! So, you are more than happy to enjoy Disney as well as share with your kids who love Disney as well!
As time goes by, you were thinking about having a nice place to stay when in Disney. After all, you love Disney and your kids love it too! You want to make the most of your Disney Fans Club adventure or however you call it when someone at Disney mentioned to you about Disney Vacation Club. A brilliant idea indeed!
So, what exactly is it?
Disney Vacation Club is Disney's innovative version of vacation ownership - - more typically known as timeshare. By purchasing a real-estate interest in a Disney Vacation Club Resort, you become a Member and that provides you with privileges that allow you and your family to vacation at Disney Vacation Club Resorts, as well as at over 500 other destinations around the world, year after year.
As for the basics, Disney Vacation Club is Disney’s version of a timeshare. Your deeded real estate interest is represented by Vacation Points, which can be used at Disney Vacation Club Resorts and over 4,000 other destinations around the world. When purchasing directly from Disney, select from Disney Resort hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, and other Disney Destinations, including Disney Cruise Line.
For a starter, the current, one-time purchase price at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is US$27,360, plus annual dues. This is for an ownership interest equal to 160 Vacation Points. There is also an introductory 100 point package for $17,100, plus annual dues. They also offer financing for qualified buyers, most of whom decide to finance for ease of payments. And a Vacation Club Guide will be able to talk with you about financing details.
Very impressive! It’s great if you’re a fanatic (which I am) or if that’s going to be your family vacation year after year (which it was).
Why?
Yes, we enjoyed the Disney Vacation Club for years, especially when the kids were little. The joy you see in their faces is worth it! Knowing we all have the same joy when in the happiest place on earth - Disney is worth talking with excitement. We all love it! We bond, laugh and share the same love of Disney.
Then the kids, grew. They grew so fast, it was not visible at first. The rides became less exciting. The bond with family become boring. The kids want to do something else. The kids want to hang out with their friends and so on....
Now, we are facing crossroad of Disney. Disney still our yearly vacation? Disney still the happiest place on earth for our family?
With the many years we have been to? Disney, I bet we can be the park tour guides by now. The in and out we know. The fun, the tricks, the thrill we so used to do...
It has come to an end. I still love Disney but with kids getting older and not wanting to go, it becomes a hassle to go. We owned the Disney Vacation Club for several years and we loved every bit of it. Once our kids began to get older, they started to show less interested in Disney trips. I was grooming them perhaps in my dreams that they could have been tour guides around the parks at this point and start working. Haha!
The reality is, time flies and the kids have outgrown Disney. The kids are no longer kids who loved Disney only. The kids now have different interests, each carving their own future, slowly and discovering new Disney world. It expands to technology, relationships, different travels and leisure.
We sold ours because we now only go every 4 or 5 years. The points can be carried over for one year and the can be borrowed from 1 year ahead. So, if you don’t go at least once every 3 years, you’ll have to sell, rent or forfeit them.
In a nutshell, families with young children may get more use out of DVC.
